About the artist:

I paint as I live, with an intention to show that life is about realizing possibilities. My work is a dynamic encounter with nature, perception, and challenges that lead us towards a place of insight and learning.

Born and educated in China, my paintings and poetry reflect the unique cross-cultural journey I have taken from China to California. I currently live in San Francisco and enjoy painting in my Potrero Hill studio. I teach expressive art at Juvenile Hall and private classes. In other times, I travel to immerse myself in inspiring cultures and landscapes, explore contact dance and understanding different expressions of the humanities.

Jun-Jun's paintings are on display at a range of public and private collections in the Bay Area. Her recent commissions include commission paintings for the UCSF cancer center Mission Bay and 49ers Levi’s Stadium art collection, and a large sculptural heart installation for “Hearts for Heroes” at San Francisco General Hospital. She is currently available for commissioned projects, art classes and exhibitions.

But “conversion therapy” is still prevalent not only around the U.S. and around the world. Come hear about OutRight’s recent research and efforts to ban “conversion therapy” in the U.S. and around the world and to increase acceptance of LGBTIQ people.

Join us for a conversation with:

WineUp Presents "Paint with Wine" (Use COVO10 for $10 Off!)

WineUp Presents "Paint with Wine" (Use COVO10 for $10 Off!)

If you have ever felt lost looking over a wine list with unknown grape varietals, or meandered the wine aisle for what seems like hours, only to pick the same tried and true wine favorite you always do, then this event is for you! You have been to wine tasting rooms in wine country with your friends, but it always seems like a sales pitch with a few wine facts sprinkled in, and by the end of the day, it was just a day-drinking excursion. WineUp brings an autonomous tasting approach to learning about wine, that manages to be educational and fun, while supported by sips and tips.

This session we welcome a special guest: Elysia Myers of Elysia Myers Wine Art, to lead attendees in at least one of their very own wine paintings. Walk away with an art form made out of the very best art form created: wine.

"I get to take the art of wine and transform it into wine art [and you will too!]" ~ Elysia Myers

Deliverables:

- Instruction and guidance for painting with wine

- Walk away with at least one wine painting to display in your home or give to a friend

- A full-circle experience of tasting the same wines you're painting with

- All painting supplies are provided

Get out of your wine rut, shake off the Mer-lows, and let WineUp dispel some common wine myths for you while you make art with wines!

Light snacks provided!

Here are the deets:

Seriously, this isn't an ordinary networking event, this is a WineUp event; chock-full of industry-backed hacks from the founder, Lauren Volper. Lauren's fun, engaging, and approachable style to learning about wine has landed her a Forbes feature and guest spots retail, coworking spaces, and corporate spots all throughout San Francisco.

Even though Lauren is a trained sommelier, she often drinks wines around $15 a bottle and loves sharing her tips and tricks targeting the millennial wine drinker! It's totally ok to drink wine you like and discover new styles you may not have thought of. Lauren will share her secrets, blind taste you on wines, and have you taste different snacks to discover the best pairings. After all, the best way to learn about wine is to taste it yourself and pick up the deductive tasting tool kit that will have you sounding like a wine PRO after just one session!

Join the WineUp community by attending this event. WineUp promotes collaboration, not competition, learning, not lecturing, and engagement not exclusivity. Pinkies down, wine snobs, and glasses up!

Can't wait to meet you! Cheers!

2019 brandUP 2-day Strategic Intensive

BrandUP is an intensive 2-day workshop focused on nonprofit brand strategy and capacity building.

This 2-day workshop intensive will help nonprofits better articulate their work and impact to key audiences. For nonprofits understanding their brand provides a powerful way for an organization to leverage the relationships they have in a strategic way that fulfills rather than deviates from the nonprofit's mission.

Get program details & see the dates for upcoming events!

During this intensive nonprofit participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with a small group of skilled volunteers and leave with tools and frameworks to boost their capacity to communicate their work more effectively to potential funders, volunteers and the community at large.

Learn about our impact in 2018 - Video Interviews with Participants

WHO SHOULD VOLUNTEER

Volunteers coming to brandUP don't need any special skills! We are looking for thoughtful, strategic, empathetic professionals from all walks of life willing to spend a Friday evening and Saturday day collaborating with Bay Area social impact leaders.

We will also have a strong contingent of Full Circle Fund Members who will be going the distance with our nonprofit partners as on project teams supporting our 2019 Grant Cycle. This event is a great way for new folks to either help for a day or trial what work might look like on a team.

HOW WE SELECT NONPROFITS

A selection of the nonprofits represented at brandUP will be our 2019 Full Circle Fund grantees. Our Members will have vetted them over the course of the last few months and forged a six-month-long partnership with these organizations.

We will also select up to 10 Bay Area-based organizations nominated by our community. They will be vetted by the BrandUp committee and offered a spot to participate.

HELP US ACCELERATE IMPACT

Begun in 2014, Rootid’s brandUP Award was created to build the communications capacity of small and growing nonprofit organizations. With over 50 applications submitted for the 2017 Award and 10 equally deserving finalists, Rootid saw the need to expand its reach.

In 2018, Rootid and Full Circle Fund teamed up to transform the brandUP competition into a 2 day strategic intensive benefitting 10-15 local nonprofits.

It was a runaway success with 100+ participants and more than 80 nonprofit applicants. This year's event will again be free and open to the public, so we can bring changemakers from all walks of life together to unlock new resources to build a better Bay Area.

FREE BODY PROJECT Fundraiser and Film Screening

Around the world, powerful changemakers use dance and movement to push for social change. Unfortunately, this inspiring work is often overlooked. Not anymore.

FREE BODY PROJECT is a San Francisco-based nonprofit building a field and network for dance and social justice. We bring support and visibility to global initaitives that use dance to empower youth, make mental health accessible, help survivors release trauma, and build peace after conflict.

Join us for a special in-progress film screening and fundraiser supporting FREE BODY PROJECT's flagship program, The Dance + Social Justice Conference, coming up this March.

About the Film

From There to Here is a short, dance + documentary film created by FREE BODY PROJECT in close collaboraiton with the survivors and dance therapy practitioners of Kolkata Sanved, an organization in India using movement as psychosocial rehabiltiation for survivors of human trafficking and violence. We have had generous support from the Fulbright Foundation and Dance Films Association.

About the Fundraiser

We will be screening this special, participatory piece in the final phase of post-production for the very first time. Stay for a short discussion with FREE BODY PROJECT's Founder and the film's Co-Director, and for networking and celebrating.

All funds raised will support the creation of 3 scholarship tickets (each is $150) for The Dance + Social Justice Conference, keeping the event accessible for those who can't afford to attend. Donations will also help us fly in 2 dance therapy practitioners from India to speak at the Conference. You will meet these incredible changemakers in the film!

Suggested donation is $30 (which also covers a drink at Covo's fabulous bar). No one will be turned away for lack of funds. If it's too much, just show up! Please come celebrate and make a donation of any amount (if possible) at the door. Every dollar donated goes a long way.
